Overview
On taking your 3-days walking safari at Kibale forest for the Chimpanzee Tracking tour, you will be guaranteed to track the Chimpanzee (man’s closest relative), thereafter in the afternoon, you embark on a Bigodi wetland guided nature safari walk for birding and other wildlife watching. Other activities that you will find inspiring include visiting the community and a guided nature walk to the outstanding crater lakes.
Kibale National Park is the only Uganda’s major accessible tropical rain forests and a home to different primate species including the red Colobus and Lhotse’s monkey.
Day 1: Arrival from Kampala- Kibale National Park

Later proceed to Kibale for relaxation as you prepare yourself for your next adventure. Or opt to visit the Crater lakes near Ndali Lodge for an outstanding sightseeing. Arrive in time for dinner at your lodge in or near Kibale National Park
Day 2: Chimpanzee Tracking & Primate Trail and Bigodi Swamp Walk
Take an early breakfast before your 3 days walking safari primate tracking adventure in the forest. As you search for Kibale’s resident chimpanzees, keep an eye out for other primates such as grey-cheeked mangabeys along with L’hoest’s, Red Colobus, red-tailed and blue monkeys. Your expert guide will share the secrets of the forest’s flora and fauna, ensuring that the trail is not only informative but also enjoyable.
Report for a morning briefing session from the UWA officials set for a morning chimpanzee tracking inside the vast jungles of Kibale, a home to a number of large wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees. Return for lunch and later continue for a guided Bigodi walk for birding and other wildlife experience.
After lunch, the Bigodi Women’s Group will take you on a fascinating boardwalk trail through the papyrus swamp of the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. Finish this action-packed day with a cultural performance or a sunset drink at a nearby lodge.
Day 3: Cultural Tour and onward travel to Kampala or Entebbe
A guide will take you on a fascinating cultural tour of the Bigodi homesteads, where you will observe the preparation on food and learn traditional weaving techniques with Bigodi Women’s Group before you can proceed for a visit to the Toro palace to explore the history of the kingdom and also make a visit to the Karambi tombs the burial place. From here you can return to Kampala.
