1 Day Mabamba Bird Watching Safari
Overview
If you are a bird watcher, birding in Mabamba will take you to what I may call your perfect paradise. Rumara Safaris will take you for a spectacular birding experience in motorized canoes. We shall take you birding in Mabamba swamp, the home for the elusive shoebill stork.
Mabamba Swamp, popularly known as the shoebill sanctuary is one of the few and most convenient places to see the rare shoebill stork. Apart from the shoebill stock, you can also have an opportunity to see other birds here like the Swamp flycatcher, pied kingfisher, African water rail, African jacana, Pallid Harrier, Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler and Blue Swallow Common moorhen, Blue Breasted Bee-eater, Squacco heron, African purple swamp hen, Winding cisticola, lesser jacana, White-faced whistling duck, Goliath Heron and many others.
Day 1: Transfer to and from Mabamba.
After your early morning breakfast, our driver will pick you up from your place of stay in Entebbe / Kampala. If you are in Entebbe, you can opt for a boat safari across Lake Victoria. On your way to the swamp, you will be able to sight see a number of birds especially if you move by boat.
To assure you, you will have an experience like no other here. On arrival to Mabamba bay swamp, you will be received by a local guide with all the knowledge about birding at Mabamba. Together with him you will move into a motorized canoe boat, you will go through the papyrus reeds, then to a flat grassy wetland and I am telling you the view here is stunningly beautiful and green. It is here in the wetland that you will be able to sight a number of shoe bills searching for prey. With the help of the local guide, you may also have an opportunity to see other birds here like the Swamp flycatcher, pied kingfisher, African water rail, African jacana, Pallid Harrier, Papyrus Gonolek, White-winged Warbler and Blue Swallow Common moorhen, Blue Breasted Bee-eater, Squacco heron, African purple swamp hen, Winding cisticola, lesser jacana, White-faced whistling duck, Goliath Heron, and many others.
After all those activities you will join your driver/ guide and move back to Kampala/ Entebbe
