Overview

Kidepo Valley National Park is a 1,442 square kilometers (557 sq. mi) national park in the undiscovered land of the Karamoja region in northeast part of Uganda. Kidepo is a rugged savanna, dominated by the 2,750 meters (9,020 ft.) Mount Morungole and transected by the Kidepo and Narus rivers. Most of the park is open tree savannah rewarding you with a true African game drive experience that greatly disclose you to buffaloes, giraffe, elephants, lions, and other beautiful birds like ostrich. While on a game drive in Kidepo you have optimal chances to encounter these animals in their largest herds. A cultural encounter with the Karmojong people will make your stay here truly worthwhile. Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo Valley National Park

Early morning you will be picked up from your favorite lodge and start your journey to the virgin land. When travelling by road, the distance is quite long and the roads are not so good. Your driver guide will start the drive very early in the morning and make a stopover at Lira Town to encounter a local community encounter before proceeding to Kitgum town for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Kitgum to Kidepo for Game Drive

Dawn drive to Kanangorok hot spring to meet the east African big five that can be seen wandering around as well as birds like the Ostriches. After return to the lodge for refreshment, breakfast and lunch and use the afternoon for a cultural experience that will get you in touch with the Karmojong people at Karenna and Kidepo. Spending time with these locals will make your safari remarkably memorable. Mix together and have a chat with the local elders and they will show you their animal kraals, the grinding stones and many more good items. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Game Drive-Kidepo valley national park

After an early breakfast, you will take another fascinating game drive to further discover the park as you sightsee more animals and birds. Also, enjoy the African landscape in Kidepo Valley National Park where you’re going to see. Return to your favorite lodge for lunch and relax a bit before proceeding to meet again with the Karmojong people to further engagement. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Kidepo-Kampala.

After breakfast visit the bird hide and have a guided nature walk. Return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch board your chartered flight back to Entebbe where you will be picked to Kampala in the evening. With road, you can have an overnight or drive to Mbale town for overnight and dinner and continue to Kampala the next morning with an option stopover to sights like source of the Nile and Bujagali falls, Itanda falls or Kalagala falls, Mabira forest reserve or Ssezibwa falls a river that was born by a women after the consultation of ancestral spiritual powers in a village Kawuna in Buikwe District.
