Tree climbing lions at Queen Elizabeth n.p

The 3 days lions safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park takes you to Uganda’s most popular lions safari destination to encounter fascinating wildlife. This lion safari tour features a thrilling game drive that exposes you to aquatics such as rhino, crocodiles, etc. The lion safari tour also takes you to meet Uganda’s only tree-climbing lions of Isasha.

Day One: To Queen Elizabeth N.P. – Sundown Game-drive.

Early in the morning, you will meet and have some briefing and individual introduction from Rumara safaris’ guide before getting on board and starting your journey driving towards West of the country. You make a stop at the Uganda’s Equator for an opportunity to experience and take some amazing photo shots when both in the Northern and southern hemisphere.

You will also be fortunate to attend and demonstrate that shows the variation in the direction of flow of water at the Equator, a few degrees north and a few degrees south!! Continue and break for lunch at Igongo Cultural Centre; you will also have the occasion to visit a museum that comprises of traditional items of the indigenous communities. Proceed through Ankole farmlands to finally access Queen Elizabeth National Park via Katungulu gate. The descent reveals the panoramic beauty of the park dotted with trees, crater lakes and lakes; George & Edward. Take and introductory game-drive and finally end your day at your preferred lodging facility.

Day Two: the Kazinga Channel experience.

Wake-up to the sounds of the nature, get on board and embark on a sunrise game-drive. The vast Savannah plains, swamps and forests of Queen Elizabeth national park are home to about 95 mammals and over 600 bird-species. Look-out for lions, in this lions safari there are also leopards, elephants, warthogs, bush-bucks, cape buffaloes and water-bucks among others. We shall employ a network of trails to access animal habitats and create more avenues for you to see and experience as much as nature shall make available.

After lunch, you will transfer to the pier/dock to arrive on time for your afternoon boat-ride on boat Kazinga Channel. A thread of water that joins lakes George and Edward, Kazinga Channel is lifeline/habitat to Nile Crocodiles, arguably the largest herds of Hippos on planet Earth, different species of Egrets, Goliath Herons, and Saddle – billed Storks, African Fish Eagles, Egyptian Gees and Cormorants among other bird species. The channel is a source for Elephants, buffaloes and many other bird-species.  Return to the dock and exploit the remaining part of the day in the wild. Meals and bed at your preferred lodging facility.

Day Three: Chimpanzee Tracking – Travel Back to Kampala.

Watch the sunrise as rays beam over Queen Elizabeth N.P. plains, have an early breakfast and check-out. Join your driver/guide, transfer to Kyambura Gorge to embark on a chimpanzee tracking activity. Kyambura connotes “I searched and failed to find”, indigenous people failed to find the source of water that flows in the gorge. The closet “cousins of man” (chimpanzees) live and wander in the think forest on the banks of the gorge. Chimpanzee tracking here involves descending and ascending on the banks of the gorge. Apart from chimpanzees, Kyambura Gorge is a hotspot for greater and lesser flamingos as well as the great Egret. Return to the staging area where you will join your driver and exit through Kabatooro gate. Another stop at the Equator by Kikorongo Road for a photo-opportunity. Continue and break for lunch at Fort Portal town (the only town with an English name).  Take a leisurely but scenic ride over hills, down valleys, through tea plantations and trading centers back to Kampala.  Drop-off at your residence in Kampala.
