Gorilla Trekking
With fewer than 1004 mountain gorillas that still exist on earth today, Uganda is home to more than half of all these massive creatures making it one of the only three countries in the world where mountain gorilla trekking is conducted. The are 18 gorilla families that have been habituated and already set for tourism purposes.
Uganda Wildlife Viewing
Uganda is a stunning country with vast plains and lush forests that create a perfect habitat for a diverse range of wildlife – it’s for this reason that it’s reffered to as the African Pearl.
This magical destination is home to 10 national parks and 12 game reserves, making it a wildlife enthusiast’s paradise. Uganda boasts a rich flora and fauna with about 10% of the world’s bird diversity.
The country’s water bodies are teeming with a variety of aquatic species, including the mighty Hippopotami and giant Nile crocodiles. Visitors can also venture into the smoky mountains to observe the majestic mountain gorillas or explore its tropical lowland forests to meet the playful chimpanzees.
Uganda is the only African safari destination with an impressive range of forest primates alongside its selection of savannah mammals. However, Uganda is not only about wildlife as it has much more to offer.

Cultural Encounters
Uganda, located in the center of Africa, is known for its diverse cultural heritage. The country boasts more than 40 native languages belonging to five distinct linguistic groups. The cultural mix is further enriched by a variety of music, art, and crafts.
The Batwa and Bambuti Pygmies are the country’s oldest inhabitants, and the Karamojong, a semi-nomadic cattle-herding tribe, reign over the northeast’s vast arid plains.
The traditional monarchs of Buganda, Bunyoro, Ankole, and Toro are at the cultural heart of modern-day Uganda, serving as important cultural figureheads.
Uganda’s communities still retain many fascinating cultural distinctions, thanks to their distinct languages, kingdoms, and geographical and climatic differences between the regions. Music, dance, cuisine, crafts, folklore, and traditional healing rituals are common ways in which these differences are displayed.
During your Uganda Safari, you can experience this wonderful cultural mix for themselves through community tourism.
Guided Walks
We offer guided walks that are simple, fun activities like a 1-hour nature walk up to full day outings in search of megafauna. What they all have in common is the opportunity to experience the African bush with all of your senses, learn the deeper connections among species, and ensure you are traveling with a local guide who has surpassed the minimum qualification levels.
Walking safaris generally are not strenuous. Depending on the season, walks might be offered as a supplement to a game drive rather than an entirely separate activity if the midday heat needs to be avoided.
Taking to foot opens up a whole new world. It is a chance to discover little things that are rarely experienced by the vehicle. Special attention is given to looking at spoor (tracks) and other signs such as dung or leopard scratches on a tree. This is also a time to learn about plants and how locals make use of them.

We are passionate about travel, conservation, nature, and people.
As a company started by a team of passionate travellers, it’s at the heart of Rumara Safaris to front suitable team and services to help you easily plan a memorable tailor-made safari.
Mountain Gorilla Tracking
We help you choose the best country for gorilla trekking if contacted. You might have heard from those that trekked gorillas in Rwanda or Uganda but our expert opinion on this matter will help you to make the right decision. Gorilla trekking takes place in three African countries of Uganda, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Out of these three countries that harbor mountain gorillas, we only operate in Uganda and Rwanda.
If interested in gorilla trekking, please contact us with date, month and year when you propose to come for a gorilla tour. This is very paramount as it will guide us to check available gorilla permits in Rwanda or Uganda. It is prudent that you order and book your gorilla permit upfront to avoid shortage.
Gorilla Habituation Experience
Do you want an experience that is more than gorilla trekking? Try our gorilla habituation experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This whole day research and habituation experience are currently taking place in the southern part of Bwindi National Park called Rushaga.
Gorilla Permits
Gorilla permits will sell out quickly in high season months of June, July, August, September, October, December, January, and February and as such, you have reminded to at least book your gorilla permits three months in advance. In Uganda, Gorilla permit prices cost $700 and $1500 in Rwanda
Uganda Safari: Where To Stay
We also advise on where to stay while on your gorilla trekking safari. There are several options in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park in Uganda.
It’s a matter of letting us know your budget and we will recommend a lodge that will give you comfort and value for money.
